RAAMP is not an MDA but a project domiciled under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. It is a Donor-Funded (Foreign Development European Investment Bank) Rural Transportation and Marketing Infrastructure improvement project which cuts across several states of the country.
Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project. It is a third-generation rural access project. It aims to strengthen the institutional and financing base for sustainable management of state and rural networks. Adequate precautions will be taken to mitigate the planning and implementation risks of all activities.
The project has an initial lifecycle of four (4) years. The project is still in its preparatory stage in Edo State and is expected to take off this year(2023). No implementation or project execution activities yet.
The project is designed to positively impact rural communities through improved road access and marketing of agricultural produce. Expected outcomes include:
Reduction in post-harvest losses in farm produce.
Increased accessibility to engender social-economic development.
Improved rural living standards.
To make Edo State a destination for flourishing Agribusinesses by providing infrastructure for enhanced rural access as well as strategic transportation links between Farm Settlements, Agro-logistic Hubs, and Marketing Hubs.
Improve rural access and agricultural marketing whilst strengthening the financing and Institutional base for effective development, maintenance, and management of the rural road network.
Improve rural road infrastructure to enhance accessibility and connectivity.
Strengthen agricultural value chains to increase market access and competitiveness.
Promote sustainable agricultural practices to mitigate environmental degradation and climate change.
Facilitate capacity-building and empowerment initiatives for rural farmers and stakeholders.
As the implementing agency, we are responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects aimed at achieving our objectives. This includes engaging with government agencies, development partners, local communities, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of our programs.
Constructing and rehabilitating rural roads, bridges, and market facilities to improve accessibility and connectivity.
Facilitating access to markets through the establishment of market information systems, agro-processing centers, and value-addition initiatives.
Providing training and technical assistance to farmers, cooperatives, and other stakeholders to enhance their skills and knowledge in agriculture and rural development.
Advocating for policies and interventions that promote inclusive rural development and agricultural transformation.
